Born in 2024, the Bottesini Orchestra is the latest project of the Association, born at the instigation of Maestro Enrico Fagone, former artistic director of the Bottesini Competition.

The project was born from the desire to create an orchestra named after one of the greatest composers and conductors of the nineteenth century. Bottesini brought Italian musical culture throughout the world in over fifty years of his career, leading to the premiere of Aida in Cairo in 1871.
Considered a pioneer and a true citizen of the world, Bottesini can therefore be a source of inspiration for many young musicians who aspire to excel in their career.
The Giovanni Bottesini Orchestra is composed of orchestra professors carefully selected by Musical Director Enrico Fagone, giving space to the best young talents on the international scene. Furthermore, the new group will work on the recovery of a repertoire of Italian composers that are rarely performed but of undisputed value such as the famous Cavalli, Bottesini, Martucci, Cherubini, Clementi, Finzi and many others.

The Bottesini Orchestra made its debut in August 2024 in Salò, with a concert included in the program of the “65th Estate Musicale del Garda” and a concert in Villa Cagnola (Varese) as part of the 47th edition of the “Musica in Villa” festival. The two debut concerts saw the special participation of the violinist winner of the prestigious 2023 Paganini Prize, Simon Zhu who, under the direction of Maestro Fagone, performed a refined musical program with the Orchestra.
In October of the same year, the Orchestra was called to accompany the three finalists of the Bottesini Competition in the final concert held in Crema on the stage of the Teatro San Domenico.
